Savoy Hotel April 2nd 2001

£20,000 raised to help vulnerable young people.

On April 2nd 2001 the crowds gathered at The Savoy Hotel to see the hammer come down on some unique celebrity memorabilia. Alone in London patron Emma Thompson had written to many fellow celebrities and asked them to design a T-shirt, you can see all the designs by clicking here. The results were auctioned at London's famous Savoy Hotel with Cracker star Robbie Coltrane and BBC's changing rooms personality Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen joining Emma Thompson and Greg Wise.

The crowd were treated to an impromptu performance from Emma, Robbie and Greg when our Sotheby's auctioneer was delayed. They put up a great performance and the crowd were well and truly warmed up when the legendary Toby Wilson arrived. A wonderful evening was had by all, and with Emma reminding all those there of why she thinks Alone in London is such a great cause, we raised a wonderful £20,000 towards our work. We still have a small number of exclusive auction catalogues available for a minimum donation of £20, the catalogues contains pictures of all the designs and a short introduction from Emma Thompson.
